What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website owners.

This Cookie Policy explains how MyLMU ("we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies when you use our Service.

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • Authentication: To keep you signed in and maintain your session
  • Security: To protect against unauthorized access and detect fraud
  • Service Functionality: To ensure the Service works properly and remembers your preferences
  • Analytics: When you are logged in, to understand how you use the Service and improve features (via PostHog)

We do not use cookies for advertising purposes or to track your behavior across other websites.

Types of Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies (Required)

These cookies are necessary for the Service to function and cannot be switched off. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as logging in.

Supabase Authentication Cookies

  • Purpose: Maintain your authentication session and secure access to your account
  • Duration: Session-based (expires when you log out) or persistent (if "Remember Me" is selected)
  • Managed by: Supabase (our authentication provider)
  • Cannot be disabled: These cookies are essential for the Service to work

Analytics Cookies (Logged-in Users)

When you are logged in, we use PostHog analytics cookies to understand how you interact with the Service. These cookies are not set on public marketing pages before you authenticate.

PostHog Analytics Cookies

  • Purpose: Persist a random identifier to associate page visits, feature usage, and session behaviour with your logged-in session
  • Duration: Persistent until you log out or clear cookies; session data is reset on logout
  • Managed by: PostHog (our analytics provider, EU-hosted)
  • Scope: Only active while you are authenticated; not used on the public landing page or login page
Third-Party Cookies

Supabase

We use Supabase for authentication and backend services. Supabase sets cookies to manage your authentication session. These cookies are essential for the Service to function. For more information, please refer to Supabase's Privacy Policy.

PostHog

We use PostHog for product analytics when you are logged in. PostHog may set cookies to track sessions and page visits. Data is processed in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). For more information, please refer to PostHog's Privacy Policy.

No Advertising Cookies

We do not use cookies for advertising purposes. We do not share your information with advertising networks, and we do not display third-party advertisements on our Service.

Cookie Duration

Session Cookies

These cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser. They are used to maintain your session while you use the Service.

Persistent Cookies

These cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. If you select "Remember Me" during login, persistent cookies will be used to keep you signed in. These typically expire after a set period (e.g., 30 days) or when you log out.

Managing Cookies

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. You can:

  • View what cookies are stored on your device
  • Delete cookies individually or all at once
  • Block cookies from specific websites
  • Block all cookies
  • Delete cookies when you close your browser

Important Note

If you disable or block essential cookies, you may not be able to use certain features of the Service, including logging in or maintaining your session. The Service requires authentication cookies to function properly.

Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites you visit that you do not want to have your online activity tracked. Currently, there is no standard for how DNT signals should be interpreted. As a result, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or mechanisms.

We do not use tracking cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking purposes. Analytics cookies (PostHog) are only enabled when you are logged in, as described in this policy.

Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Cookie Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

You are advised to review this Cookie Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
