Discord & Alerts

Discord webhooks, email alerts, and in-app notifications for team lap records, session results, and events.

Last updated July 12, 2026

Summarize this section with AI

MyLMU Teams can push activity to Discord channels, email inboxes, and the in-app notification bell. This section covers every alert type, how they differ, and how to configure them.

What you can connect

ChannelLap recordsSession resultsTeam events
Discord webhook✓ (all teams)✓ (all teams)✓ (Pro team owner)
Email——✓ (Pro team owner)
In-app bell——✓ (all teams, per-member prefs)

Discord uses incoming webhooks — no bot install or OAuth. Messages appear from MyLMU Bot with a link back to your team dashboard.

In this section

  • Lap record alerts — celebrate new fastest laps
  • Session result alerts — activity feed for imports and uploads
  • Event alerts — email and Discord for the team calendar

Three webhooks, three channels

Lap records, session results, and events each use a separate webhook URL. You can point them at the same Discord channel or split them — for example:

  • #lap-records — PB announcements only
  • #race-results — every imported session
  • #team-events — calendar, lineups, and reminders

Configure all three in team Settings. Only owners and admins can view or edit webhook URLs.

Display links vs webhooks

Team Settings also has optional Discord display links (server invite + channel view URL). These appear on the team Overview tab so members can join your server quickly.

Display links are not webhooks — they do not send automated messages.

Quick comparison

AlertFires whenTypical use
Lap recordsA member beats an existing team fastest lapPB hype, league competitiveness
Session resultsAny new session is imported or uploadedDaily activity feed
Events (Discord)Calendar create/update/cancel/reminder/lineupRace nights, briefings, RSVPs
Events (email)Same triggers as event DiscordMembers who prefer inbox over Discord

Use session results + lap records together for full coverage: session results for volume, lap records for highlights.

Plan gating applies to event email, event Discord, and ICS calendar subscribe — the team owner's plan must be Pro. Lap record and session result Discord alerts work on free teams.

See Plans & limits and Roles & permissions.

Creating a Discord webhook

For each channel you want MyLMU to post in:

  1. Open Discord → your server → the target text channel
  2. Channel settings → Integrations → Webhooks
  3. New Webhook (or choose an existing one)
  4. Copy the webhook URL — it looks like https://discord.com/api/webhooks/123456789/abcdef…
  5. Paste into the matching field in team Settings and save

Tips:

  • Create one webhook per MyLMU alert type if you want separate channels
  • Only share webhook URLs with owners/admins — anyone with the URL can post to that channel
  • If a webhook stops working (channel deleted, webhook removed), create a new one and update Settings

Event webhooks are validated on save. Lap record and session result webhooks are validated when MyLMU tries to send.

Where to configure

Open Dashboard → Teams → [your team] → Settings:

SectionWhat it controls
Discord IntegrationLap record + session result webhooks, filters, record notification mode
Event alertsEvent email toggles, event Discord webhook, per-trigger toggles, test buttons, delivery log
Discord display linksInvite + channel URLs on Overview
Calendar subscribeICS feed (Pro owner — see Calendar)

Member notification preferences

Event email and in-app notifications respect each member's personal settings under Dashboard → Settings → Notifications:

  • Team event emails — opt in/out of event emails (when the team has email alerts enabled)
  • Team event in-app — opt in/out of the notification bell

Discord channel posts are not per-member — one message goes to the configured channel for everyone who can see that Discord channel.

RSVPs and the Events tab work regardless of email or in-app preferences.

Troubleshooting

ProblemThings to check
No Discord messagesWebhook enabled? URL saved? Correct alert type toggles? Session filters match the session?
Lap record alert missingSession imported after member joined team? Beat an existing record? Discord record mode matches car vs class?
Session alert missingManual Trophy Room entry? Only auto-imports/upload trigger alerts.
Event alert delayedNormal — delivery runs on a schedule, up to ~10 minutes after the trigger
Event section lockedTeam owner needs Pro
Test Discord greyed outSave settings first — test uses saved webhook, not unsaved form values
