Pit Wall splits car and driver analysis across two tabs. Both respect lap scope from Stint analysis.
When a stint or manual range is active, a banner at the top shows the scope with Clear filter. Sections only appear when your recording includes the relevant channels.

Chassis answers: How is the car behaving mechanically and aerodynamically? Each section below appears when the needed channels exist.
Ride Height Distribution
Histograms of front and rear ride height across all samples in scope.
| Element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Min / Mean / Max | Height range in metres |
| Histogram | How often the car sat at each height |
| Amber warning | High share of samples near minimum — possible bottoming out |
Heavy bias toward the low end often means fuel burn-off, stiff springs, or too much downforce for the circuit — especially on fast straights or compressions.
Damper Velocity
Per corner (FL, FR, RL, RR), how damper movement splits between slow and fast shaft speed:
| Band | Typical cause |
|---|---|
| Low-speed % | Pitch and roll — weight transfer, cornering |
| High-speed % | Kerbs, bumps, high-frequency track input |
| Peak velocity | Hardest single damper hit in scope |
Compare corners: one wheel with unusually high high-speed % may be hitting kerbs harder or riding a bumpier line.
Aero Balance Shift
Tracks front-to-rear ride height ratio at peak speed each lap.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| F/R Ratio Shift | How much the ratio changed from first to last lap in scope (positive = more front bias over time) |
| Line chart | Ratio per lap — trend as fuel burns off |
A shifting balance can explain understeer or oversteer developing late in a stint even with constant setup.
Oversteer / Understeer Balance
Derived from how much the car yaws vs what steering and speed demand.
| Column (per lap) | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Oversteer % | Rear sliding — car rotates more than steering asks |
| Understeer % | Front washing out — car rotates less than steering asks |
| Neutral % | Balanced rotation |
Session averages appear above the table. A lap with high oversteer % on corner exit may need wing or diff tweaks; high understeer % on entry may be trail-braking or front grip related — cross-check Driver → Trail Braking.
Wheel Slip / Traction Loss
Detects moments when a wheel speed deviates from the four-wheel average — wheelspin or lockups.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Avg Slip Events / Lap | How many slip moments per lap on average |
| Avg Peak Slip % | How severe slips are |
| Per-lap table | Events count, slip distance (m), peak slip % |
Peak slip above ~10% is highlighted. Frequent events on exit may mean too much throttle or TC too open; under braking may mean brake bias or pressure issues.
Aero Efficiency
Measured at high speed (above ~70% of session V-Max):
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Avg L/D Ratio | Lift-to-drag efficiency averaged in scope |
| L/D at V-Max | Efficiency at peak speed |
| Front Downforce % | Share of downforce on the front axle |
| Avg Drag (N) | Drag force in newtons |
| Per-lap L/D chart | Trend when multiple laps available |
Low L/D at V-Max on a wing-heavy setup may mean too much drag for the straights; shifting front downforce % can explain turn-in vs straight-line trade-offs.

Trail Braking
Measures brake pressure still applied while lateral G is building on corner entry.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Avg Overlap % | Session average — higher often means more trail braking |
| Per-lap Overlap % | Green at 40% or above; amber below 20% |
Low overlap may mean early brake release before the apex; very high overlap on only some laps may mean inconsistent entry technique.
Shift Discipline
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| In Power Band % | Upshifts that occurred between 92–100% of max RPM |
| Total Shifts | Upshift count in scope |
| Avg Shift RPM | Typical shift point |
| Max RPM | Peak RPM seen |
Low In Power Band % suggests short-shifting — leaving performance on the table. Compare across stints if you change shift points for fuel save.
Coasting Distance
Per lap, distance where both throttle and brake are below 1%:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Distance (m) | Metres coasting |
| % of Lap | Share of lap length — highlighted amber above 10% |
High coasting can mean fuel-saving, hesitation between corners, or lift-off too early before braking zones.
G-G Diagram
Scatter of lateral G vs longitudinal G for the scoped laps.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Peak Combined G | Maximum grip used |
| Grip Utilization % | How much of peak grip you average — higher means more time near the limit |
| Per-lap table | Utilization and peak G per lap |
A tight cloud shape means consistent grip usage; sparse scatter may mean inconsistent lines or inputs. Green utilization ≥45% often indicates aggressive, committed driving.
Braking Performance
Heavy braking zones (brake pedal above 30%) per lap:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Zones | Number of heavy braking events |
| Peak G | Peak deceleration |
| Entry Spd | Speed at zone entry (km/h) |
| Mod. | Brake modulation events — pedal pumps within one zone |
High modulations may mean ABS activity, bumps mid-braking, or inconsistent pedal pressure.
Throttle Application
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Time to Full | Seconds from first throttle to full power on exits |
| Lifts | Mid-ramp throttle lifts (hesitations) |
| Smoothness | Score 0–100 — higher is cleaner application |
Many lifts or low smoothness on exit laps often correlate with oversteer or poor traction — pair with Chassis → Wheel Slip.
Steering Smoothness
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Smoothness | Score 0–100 — higher is cleaner steering |
| Corrections | Mid-corner steering corrections per lap |
High corrections count means fighting the car on entry or exit — compare with Oversteer / Understeer on the same laps.
Lap scope
Select a stint or manual range on Laps to recalculate these metrics for those laps only.
Inspector charts are not scoped — they always follow Base / Compare lap pickers.
Workflows
| Goal | Steps |
|---|---|
| Rear tyre fade mid-stint | Scope stint → Chassis → Wheel Slip + Thermal → Wear per Fuel |
| Inconsistent sector times | Driver → Trail Braking per lap + Stats → Consistency |
| Setup bottoming | Chassis → Ride Height warning + Inspector suspension preset |
| Exit oversteer | Driver → Throttle lifts + Chassis → Oversteer % on same laps |
